With their previous crest breaking ancient heraldic laws with the Count of Lord Lyon, Ayr United of Scottish League One at the time, decided to open the re-design to the fans and collated the badges for a vote, with the winner would then seeing their crest become the new face of Ayr United for the foreseeable future.
This was my design for the new Ayr United badge on the right in which I tried to create a similar look to the old one as I know that a club’s badge means a lot to its fans. The same sort of style would therefore keep as much of the traditional badge that fans love and is basically an upgrade in crest shape to move away from the style that was causing the issue.
My design was subsequently selected as a shortlist of five for the fans of the club to vote for their favourite which would be used for the clubs crest going onwards.
